If some on could tell me how to fix this error that would amazing!

It says this on a blue screen:

Stop:c0000218{Registry File Faliure}
The registry cannot load the hive (file):
\systemRoot\system32\config\DEFAULT
or its log or alternate.
It is corrupt, absent, or not writable.

Beginning dump of physical memory
Physical memory dump complete.
Contact...adim/tech...for assistance

I've tried googling and stuff, but I don't understand any of it so anyone that has the time to tell me what to do or directed me somewhere would be a lifesaver! btw im using windows xp

I have two options when I put the recovery cd in:

1: restore windows to the oringal settings(deleteing everything)
2 open command prompt

now obouivly i want to keep everthing. So How would I go abotu saving everythin, starting from step one(the recvorey disk)

Sounds like the Blue Screen of Death to me. It's usually due to a malfunction with a system that causes the computer to shut down to prevent further damage.

I use XP also, but my reboot disk gives me an option to store all of my current files into a folder so I don't lose anything when I reboot my HDD. Strange that you don't have that option. I wish I could be of more help, but I'm not great with this kind of stuff, and I don't want to give bad advice. I would simply call up a tech support hotline to find the exact problem.
